The Ghana Blackstars team missed the presence of Captain Asamoah Gyan. Wakaso and the Ayew Brothers dropped from the squad before the match. However, the team still had few top players in there.
Uganda had already played a draw when they came to Kumasi, Ghana. The match was as intense as it was today. The Cranes gave the Blackstars a run for their money.
During the final moments, a bizarre decision by the Referee Daniel Bennett saw many Ghanaians outraged. The Referee during the final moments disallowed a goal from the blackstars. The reason was very much unclear and the coaching and the technical bench of the Blackstars hit the field when the whistle was blown for the end of the match.
