During the launch of the Rapperholic Concert slated for this December, Africa’s Best Rapper reiterated the fact that he is not an afro beat artist.  In his submission, he said “Artists like Stonebwoy, Wizkid & Shatta Wale Need Master HIT Songs to survive.

Shatta wale does both what I do and what I am about to explain. Their major strength is a master hit. They need that to survive in a way. So If as an artist I choose to go on that part which sometimes it will work because I know the formulae.

But when you choose that you need to be ready for the pressure that comes with it. Or you have core fans who love you for what you really stand for and thus rap. Cos I am not an afrobeat artist….Most times you have a Castro to do a hook, you have Runtown to do Pain Killer…That is not my lane I just go in dip out, make sure I feed my fans for those are the numbers that stay.

AFROBEAT ARTIST African Best Rapper Sarkodie

So People who love Adonai are not necessarily Sarkodie fans but they love the song. So when you call core Sarkodie fans to mention 3 songs, you might not really have an Adonai. But Revenge of the Spartans, the highest…”

Adonai is by far the greatest Sarkodie song for now. Its against this backdrop that some few fans and media persons feel if the singer can do more of afrobeat, he can make hits every year.

However, Sarkodie took time to explain his craft and the music industry. His expose didnt go unnoticed as many fans , fellow international artists took to social media to acknowledge what the Rapper said.
